Snow

From the 29th - 3rd of December 2010 we didn't have to go to school because there was A LOT if snow and the roads were really bad so nobody could make it to the school. I mean it, it was really bad because there was almost a foot of snow and when I walked out in it,I think it was on Wednesday it was up to my knees, so we were lucky that we didn't have to go to school.

Podcasting

On the 26th of November 2010 we went to room 23 and there was these two guys and they said that they were going to be showing us how make a podcast. So we were put into teams of like 5 or 6 people and we had to write our own podcast and we had to try make it funny so that if people heard it on the radio, it would make them laugh. So my group we made ours about how there is a lot of chinese, Italian, etc take away shops in Ireland but no Irish take aways. It was really funny because some of us had to put on a strong country accent which made it funnier. And at the end everyone came back in to room 23 and we listened to all of the podcasts and it just made it even funnier because everybody was in bits when they were listening to the other ones. It was a good experience and it was worth while doing because it was fun and even the teachers were laughing so that was a bonus! :)

Science Trip

On the 16th of November we all went on a little science trip to the State Lab which is about a 10 minute drive from our school. Whe we got there we were split up into like 3 or 4 groups and we were just shown around the labs and people explained what they do there. We were brought to like where they test milk and other dairy products and it was really interesting because you learned things that you didn't know before so it was really a good expeience. The people there were really friendly and they helped us understand what it was like to work in a place where there is a lot of food and animal testing.

Naas

On the 15th of November 2010 we went to Naas again for another meeting about our Mini-Companies and it went really good because we got to talk about how we are getting on with our project. So the next time we go to one of these meetings in Naas, we will be able to bring a sample of our bracelets and show them to everyone and explain how we made them, so that should be fun:)

Work Experience Overall

Working in Hubu Hair Salon has been amazing because I really enjoyed the experience and I had so much fun for the whole week and i would really reccommend it for a job because there is so much involved in being as hairdresser and what it includes. When I am 16 I am actually going to go to them and ask then about working there part-time. I was allowed to wash hair and deal with the customers and make tea and coffee so it was really fun.

Hubu

Even though the date says it what yesterday that I posted this, it was actually the 8th of November that I was working. After having a good nights kip, I am all ready for my second day of work and I am a little more relaxed because I sort of know what's to come. Today me and Davina we allowed to watch the other girls wash people's hair and Tony (the owner) said that if it's not busy later on in the day that we would be supervised washing people's hair so we were pretty excited. It wasn't till like after 2 o'clock that these 2 women came in at the same time and they wanted us to wash one each so we could compare how fast we both could go because it is very uncomfortable if you take too long. We still did the other things as well like sweeping the floor and making tea/coffee. But it was fun because we got to wash about 10 people's hair each by about 6 o'clock.

Hubu

Guess Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!?!? Today is the first day of my Transition Year Work Experience and I will be working alonside Davina in Hubu Hair Salon and I really can't wait to be in an actual working place because I have never worked anywhere before. I was really excited about not having to be in a place wher I didn't know anybody so that was good to know. When I woke up this morning I felt really good because I was just soooo excited. It took me ages to get ready because I wanted to make a good impression, so I was on my way there and I saw Davina coming and I knew she was so excited without even seeing her face. So we got there and the door was locked due to the fact that everybody was late getting there. About 15 minutes went past and then somebody came along who had a key and we all went in and we introduced ourselves and we said that we there because of Work Experience. They were all really welcoming and happy that we were there. They gave us a list of things that we had to do on the first day which included taking the hair off brushes and cleaning rollers and drawers. It was a bit boring at first but I didn't expect them to let me cut hair on day one so I new there was things that you had to do first before you started the complicated stuff. We worked until about 12.00 and the owner Tony said that we could take an hour off for our break. I went home and I had like loads to eat because when you're in school you have a break at like 10.00 but we were working like really hard so we were knackered!!!!

We went back to work at 1.00 and we sort of did the same things, we were allowed to watch the other girls wash hair and see what they were like when a lot of people came in. We were allowed to great the people and ask them what they having done and bring them to the basins so that was good that we got to interact with public. We also made tea and coffee and folding towels. That was the main work that we did on the Monday we got off at about 6. By the time I got home I was so tired I just went to bed. :)

More School :(

Hi we are now back to school again the day after Halloween and OMG ther as a lot of people out and a lot of people tired because of the craaaaazy night they had!! Not a lot of things happened this week in school more to the fact it was just school but I did voluteer to come into school on Saturday because it was the open day for the incoming first years. There was abiyt 6 of us in the computer room and when people came in they would just look at some of the projects that we are currently working on at the minute. And what fun things you can do in Transition Year. That lasted for about 2 hours and acturally a lott of people did come in and most of them looked about 8. But it would be nice to have more people come to our school next year.

Mid-Term break and Halloween

Haloo again sorry I haven't blogged in a while my computer was broken but we are on our mid term break from school which is really good because now we can all have a little time to relax. The first time in ages. In a couple of days it will be Halloween and I can't wait because you get to have great fun with family and friends AND you get free sweets,best time of the year. Halloween was good because I had great fun just sitting watching telly and playing games. And when my brother came back after his hunt (as he calls it) there was so much sweets so my mam doesn't need to buy food in the shops for like a week!

Halloween

Today we had our Halloween dress up day so all the years had to dress up like monsters and stuff so it was good. There was a lot of good costumes which had a lot effort gone into them. Not a lot of people out of my class didn't dress up. There was like a fashion show in the hall for all of the people who's costumes were really thoughtful. Ciara out of my class won because she dressed up as the Mad Hatter. she even made the hat herself, she looked really well. About 2 teachers dressed up and one of the teachers refused to take off her costume for the whole day!!
